This is a short conversation between a fully-formed AI, whose responses to unheard questions and comments make a case for the acknowledgement of sentience regardless of form. Note that in this context at least, AI means Alternative or Acquired Intelligence rather than the more traditional Artificial Intelligence. Obvious influences are the new Battlestar Galactica and Terminator – Sarah Connon Chronicles, vs. Ghost In The Shell.

My first attempt at writing a story around traditional fantasy magic, where a Witch is summed to aid a rich trader whose home is being invaded by malevolent shadows. Her investigations eventually reveal the fragile nature of reality, and brings into question the very meaning of their existence.

A young girl relates leaving her grave, having been buried as dead, and reveals herself as possessing considerable power; though not explicity stated, readers of A Traveller’s Tale and Travellers’ Tales would recognise her as Lucy’s daughter.

Told in a deliberately archaic manner and styled like a horror story, this describes the upheaval upon a small community caused by the appearance of an inter-world passageway, one of those rare but powerful natural occurrences which create a means of travel between various parallel worlds.
